"Awara" is the film of Raj Kapoor and Nargis Dutt which created a record of popularity in the history of Bollywood. In 1954 alone, more than 6 crore tickets were bought for this film. The script of Awara was written by Khawaja Ahmed Abbas who was a famous Urdu fiction writer, film director and renowned journalist.

The film became so popular after its first release that it was screened in other countries as well. His songs became popular in India only when the film reached Romania, the film was well liked there as well and his songs became a hit. In 1951 and for decades, the songs of this film were on the tongue of the youth, while the popularity of this film in Romania was such that thirty years later, one of its songs was sung in a new style by a pop singer there. She also named herself Nargita after being inspired by the film's actress Nargis Dutt. This singer was invited by Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and heard this song from her. He also gifted a saree to Nargeeta. Later in 1981, when Indira Gandhi visited Romania, Nargeeta wore the same saree and performed Awara songs in front of the audience.

She takes this judge's son and stays in a poor people's settlement, where the child grows up among bad guys and gangsters. While living with them, the judge's son also becomes a wanderer and one day comes in front of his father.
