Pakistan has rejected the Indian Foreign Ministry's statement regarding the 2002 Gujarat riots.
On Saturday, Pakistan's Foreign Office, referring to the statement of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, described it as an 'attempt to cover up the massacre of Muslims'.
Spokesperson of the Foreign Office Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that this is a shameful story of mass murder, rape and looting. The fact is that the masterminds of the Gujarat massacre have escaped justice and are now holding important government posts in India.
Spokesperson of the Foreign Office said that 'no amount of rhetoric can cover the activities of the extremist organization in India. Hindutva, the political ideology of the ruling party in India, has created an environment of hatred and division, the acquittal of those involved in the Samjhauta Express attack is an unjustified murder, the followers of Hindutva supremacy have been left to attack minorities.
On the other hand, the BJP has announced a protest today for calling Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi the 'butcher of Gujarat'.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said in the United Nations meeting that "Osama bin Laden is dead, but the butcher of Gujarat is alive and has become the Prime Minister of India."
In India, the ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh have strongly condemned Bilawal Bhutto's statement and announced a nationwide protest.
Pakistan and India have been making strong statements against each other in the United Nations on the issue of terrorism.
When Pakistani Foreign Minister raised the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations, Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar gave a strong reaction and said that the country which hosted Osama bin Laden should not give a lecture.
After this statement, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari termed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the butcher of Gujarat and said that Bin Laden is dead but Modi is alive.
The Indian Foreign Ministry termed Bilawal Bhutto's statement as an "uncivilized outburst" and said it showed Pakistan's "failure to use terrorists and their proxies".
According to the statement, "Terrorism created by Pakistan must be ended."
