Prince Harry reveals new details about differences within the British royal family

Prince Harry said his brother William's yelling at him when they met to discuss his future with Meghan was "terrifying".

The prince said in a series of interviews broadcast on Netflix that the decision to leave the royal family was made by him and not by his wife, Megan, after rejecting the possibility of their partial stay during a family meeting in Sandringham.

He added that his father had said things that "simply weren't true" while his grandmother, the Queen, looked on.

Buckingham Palace did not comment on Harry's speech.

In the latest part of a series of interviews, Harry and Megan described the reason for their decision to abandon their royal duties and move to reside in the United States and said that they did not have the support of the royal family, amid a series of negative campaigns from the media that targeted Megan in particular.

In the fourth part, Megan talks about her thoughts of suicide, while Prince Harry describes how he felt shame when thinking about his reactions, as he acted as “Harry the son of the institution” and not “Harry the husband.”

And when things got worse, Prince Harry says in the fifth part of the series that he went to Sandringham, the royal farm in Norfolk, in 2020 to discuss the multiple possibilities of the couple's role in royal life, and the relationship with his father, brother, and grandmother, the late queen.

Harry remembers how the meeting went: "It was terrifying that my brother would yell at me, my father would say things that weren't true, and my grandmother would sit quietly and look like she believed everything."

He said that he would have preferred to stay in the palace partially so that he and Megan each perform his duties and at the same time support the queen, but it quickly became apparent that this was not possible, and that it was not subject to discussion.

As for the Queen, her main goal and responsibility are the Royal Institution, Harry said.

He added that a joint statement had been prepared after the meeting without his permission, in his and his brother's name, denying that William had intimidated him into leaving the royal family.

He described it as "a lie to protect my brother" and added, "I told myself I had no choice now but to leave."

He said Meghan had not asked to leave and to claim otherwise was "misogyny at its best".

In the later parts of the series, Megan talks about her thoughts of suicide before withdrawing from the royal family.

"It seemed as if everything would end without me," she added.

Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, said hearing what her daughter was thinking "hurt her to the core".

Harry said hearing from Meghan about her suffering was devastating to him but said he had been trained to care more about what people had to say and that he "hated himself for it".
