Renowned writer and poet Amjad Islam Amjad passed away

 



The family members of 78-year-old Amjad Islam Amjad say that he died while sleeping at night. When they tried to wake him up in the morning, he had died.

Born on August 4, 1944 in Lahore, Amjad Islam Amjad obtained his MA in Urdu from Punjab University in 1967 and was involved in teaching for several decades. Meanwhile, he also held responsibilities in the Punjab Art Council.


Government service never stopped his literary creations, during his employment he wrote several masterpieces of TV dramas and fiction.


Works

Amjad Islam Amjad dabbled in every genre of Urdu literature, he also used to write regular columns in Urdu newspapers but his real fame came from poetry and drama.

Amjad Islam Amjad has written more than 20 poetry collections and 15 collections of legends and travelogues.

Honors
Amjad Islam Amjad got his first award in 1975 for the TV drama "Khavab Jagte Hain".

He was also awarded the Writers Guild Award in 1976, the Presidential Medal of Excellence in 1987 and the Star of Distinction in 1998.
